The 14th Annual MLK Youth Parade is scheduled for January 18, 2020 originating in Houston’s Midtown beginning promptly @ 12:00PM (CST).
The parade’s theme “The Color Of Unity” will emphasize a commitment to cultural diversity and inclusion that will be articulated throughout the parade’s production.
The MLK Youth Parade will be represented by more than 200 culturally diverse performing groups from across the U.S. and will feature twenty (20) award-winning marching bands.

The parade is dedicated to the U.S. Army Air Corps 212th Pursuit Squadron “The Tuskegee Airmen”. In a salute to our parade theme the United States Air Force Honor Guard from Washington, D.C. and the United States Ceremonial Marching Band from Lackland AF Base from San Antonio will be the lead elements in the parade.
The Co-Grand Marshals are The Honorable Sylvia Garcia U.S. Congresswoman and The Honorable Dan Crenshaw U.S. Congressman. The 26th Annual MLK Grande Parade will also recognize and honor the architect of the MLK State Holiday Former State Representative The Honorable Ron Wilson.
The 26th Annual MLK Grande Parade will consist of more than 250 performance groups including 36 marching bands and 14 parade floats from across the nation.

The excitement is building as we prepare for our 2020 MLK Youth Parade. We are excited to have your organization participate in our MLK Events. Please Allow this letter to serve as your Official Parade Reporting Instructions.
The parade date is scheduled for January 18, 2020. The Theme for the 2019 Parade is “ The Color Of Unity”.
The parade march begins promptly @ 12:00 pm.
Parade Check in time is 10:00 a.m.
Please make sure your organization is checked in NO LATER THAN 11:00A.M.
The Registration and Check-in location is Near Houston Community College Central Campus-(1200 Holman Street-Houston, Texas-77004)
The 2020 Youth Parade will originate at the corner of Elgin & San Jacinto. The parade route is approximately 1.7 mile and will last 1.5 hours. For those groups that will be traveling via bus, Bus Parking has been designated on Caroline Street Between Mchlheny Street And Elgin Street. You will be responsible For picking up your official parade position number when your organization checks in. This number must be prominently displayed during your participation in the parade. It may be part of a banner that is carried in front of your entry or on your vehicle or float.
No alcoholic beverages will be allowed on or in any entry vehicle. No consumption of alcoholic beverages by parade participants will be allowed before or doing the parade. Parade officials will monitor all entries.
No candy or any other materials will be allowed to be thrown or dropped from floats or other vehicles along the parade route by parade entries. Only participants on foot may hand candy or other items to parade spectators. To keep the children from running into the street candy distributors must walk at curbside to hand out candy. Please respect our concern for the safety of children.

Parade Check in time is 8:00 a.m. Please make sure your organization is checked in NO LATER THAN 9:00A.M. The Registration and Check-in location is on The SE Corner Of San Jacinto Street & Holman Street-1200 Holman Street-Houston, Texas-77004. The 2020 Parade will originate at the corner of Elgin & San Jacinto. The parade route is approximately 1.5 miles

With Thanksgiving rapidly approaching, the season is among us… Parade season that is and, the country’s biggest float fanfare, the Macy’s Day parade kicks it all off, followed by the Rose Parade and with the third largest parade in the country, the MLK Grande Parade carrying the baton into next year.
This year marks a milestone for the annual MLK Grande Parade, celebrating its 25th year marching in the name of the lauded civil rights leader.
