The Parade’s Theme “Social Inclusion” Will Articulate and Emphasize Our Nation’s Strengths Through Our Diversity.
The Co-Grand Marshals Are The Honorable Dr. Bryan Taulton, Superintendent Of Schools, Coldspring-Oakhurst Consolidated School District; Demetres Boyd-Thompson, School and Community Engagement Director, Space Center Houston; and Millard House II, Superintendent, Houston Independent School District.
The 28th Annual MLK Grande Parade Will Also Recognize and Honor The Architect Of The MLK State Holiday Former State Representative The Honorable Ron Wilson and The Architect Of The MLK City Of Houston Holiday The Honorable Ernest McGowen, Sr.
The 28th Annual MLK Grande Parade Will Consist Of More Than 300 Performance Groups Including 30 Marching Bands From Across The Nation and Will Feature The United States Air Force Presidential Honor Guard From Washington D.C.
The 28th Annual MLK Grande Parade Will Be Televised By The CW 39-Houston Live and In Its Entirety. This Is Truly A MUST SEE EVENT.

The excitement is building as we prepare for our 2022 MLK Grande Parade In Midtown Houston. We are excited to have your organization’s participation in our Parade. Allow this letter to serve as your Official Parade Instructions.
The Parade date is January 17, 2022. The Theme for the 2022 MLK Grande Parade is “Social Inclusion.” The Parade Start Time is set for 10:00 am. Parade Check in time is 8:00 a.m. Please make sure your organization is checked in NO LATER THAN 9:00A.M. The Registration and Check-in location is on The SE Corner Of San Jacinto Street & Holman Street-1200 Holman Street-Houston, Texas-77004. The 2022 Parade will originate at the corner of Elgin & San Jacinto. The parade route is approximately 1.5 miles and will last 2 hours. For those groups that will be traveling via bus, Bus Parking has been designated for Fannin St Between Holman St And Alabama St (See Map Of Parade Route).
You will be responsible for picking up your official parade line up position and number upon check-in @ the Check-In Point. Your assigned number must be prominently displayed during your participation in the parade. It may be part of a banner that precedes your parade entry or on your vehicle or float.
No alcoholic beverages will be allowed on or in any parade entry vehicle. No consumption of alcoholic beverages by parade participants will be allowed before or during the parade. Parade officials will monitor all entries.
No candy or any other materials will be allowed to be thrown on dropped from floats or other vehicles along the parade route by parade entries. Only participants on foot may hand candy or other items to parade spectators. To keep the children from running into the street candy distributors must walk at curbside to hand out candy. Please respect our concern for the safety of children.
