Tony Runnels is originally from Silsbee, Texas where he was a standout student-athlete and an active church and community member. He was the 1st president of the Barlow Champion Boys Club and now is the sponsor of the club that focuses on volunteer work in the community of Silsbee, Texas. Tony Runnels is a proud Alumnus of Prairie View A&M University where he holds a degree in Biology (Pre-Medicine) and a Masters in Education Administration.
Tony Runnels is celebrating 25 years of public education. Principal Runnels began his career as a football coach and science teacher in Beaumont ISD. In only 3 years, help to take Crockett Middle School from low-performing to a Recognized campus. Mr. Runnels enjoyed a successful career as a teacher and a coach but was eventually encouraged to become a campus administrator. In 2000, Mr. Runnels moved to Houston, Texas and became a Biology and Chemistry teacher. His leadership skills became evident and was eventually offered an Assistant Principal Position. That is when Mr. Runnels’ career really took off. He became a lead Assistant Principal, an Associate Principal, and finally a High School Principal. Mr. Runnels is currently the High School Principal at Royal High School in Brookshire, Texas.
Tony is married to the beautiful Felicia Love Runnels and they have a beautiful daughter Cori that is a stellar track athlete at Northwestern State University in Louisiana.
