Gene Donahue

.

Gene Donahue was born and raised in the historic Third Ward community. He attended Jack Yates High
School for a short while but graduated from Lee High School. He graduated from Prairie View A&M
University with a degree in Agriculture.

As a youth, Mr. Donahue says, “I always admired my father Clarence and his brother Dr. John B
Coleman, who was always helping people in the community. Their work in the community inspired and
motivated me to want to do the same.” He moved to New York and worked on several campaigns; Carl
McCall for Governor and Peter Vallone for Mayor to name a few. He moved back to Houston to aid in
campaigns for attorneys Gene Locke, Ben Hall and Tony Buzbee.

Mr. Donahue brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the MLK Committee in particular and
community at large. “I look forward to getting on board with the MLK Grande Parade.”
