The excitement is building as we prepare for our 2020 MLK Grande Parade In Midtown Houston. We are excited to have your organization’s participate in our Parade. Allow this letter to serve as your Official Parade Instructions.
The parade date is January 20, 2020. The Theme for the 2019 Parade is “The Color Of Unity”. The Parade Start Time is set for 10:00 am. Parade Check in time is 8:00 a.m. Please make sure your organization is checked in NO LATER THAN 9:00A.M. The Registration and Check-in location is on The SE Corner Of San Jacinto Street & Holman Street-1200 Holman Street-Houston, Texas-77004. The 2020 Parade will originate at the corner of Elgin & San Jacinto. The parade route is approximately 1.5 miles
and will last 2 hours. For those groups that will be traveling via bus, Bus Parking has been designated On Caroline St Between Mchlheny St And Elgin Street (See Map Of Parade Route).
You will be responsible for picking up your official parade line up position number when your organization registers @ Check-In Point . Your assigned number must be prominently displayed during your participation in the parade. It may be part of a banner that is carried in front of your entry or on your vehicle or float.
No alcoholic beverages will be allowed on or in any entry vehicle. No consumption of alcoholic beverages by parade participants will be allowed before or during the parade. Parade officials will monitor all entries.
No candy or any other materials will be allowed to be thrown on dropped from floats or other vehicles along the parade route by parade entries. Only participants on foot may hand candy or other items to parade spectators. To keep the children from running into the street candy distributors must walk at curbside to hand out candy. Please respect our concern for the safety of children.
