Renardo R. Murray
Interim Director of Bands, Jackson State University
A Native of Jackson, Mississippi, Renardo Murray is currently serves as Interim Director of Bands and Instructor of Music at Jackson State University. He received the Bachelor of Music Education degree from Alcorn State University, Lorman, Mississippi, the Master of Music Education degree from Jackson State University, and is currently completing the Doctor of Philosophy in Music Education from the University of Mississippi. Murray has had extensive experience as a public school and college band director. He is a superb bandmaster, disciplinarian, motivator and teacher. His public school bands have consistently received superior and excellent ratings at State and local band festivals. At Jackson State his teaching duties include directing the Sonic Boom of the South Marching Band, conducting the University Wind Ensemble, teaching applied lower brass, music education, and music appreciation. His professional affiliations include the Music Educators National Conference (MENC), the College Band Directors National Association (CBDNA), Kappa Kappa Psi Band Fraternity, and Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Incorporated. Murray keeps an active schedule as a consultant, adjudicator, and clinician.
